CREATING DECISION SMITHS

GRADUATE AS A DECISION SMITHSM

Decision Smiths will be experts who will enable fact-based decision-making in an organization. The WNS-NU MBA in Business Analytics will further hone the analytical abilities of those who choose to opt for it. WNS and NU are innovative, fast-paced, and highly analytical environments – perfect for learning what is being called the “career of the future”.

This programme will help students learn to assess, analyze and act upon complex information within often ambiguous contexts, giving them the ability to master analytical and quantitative concepts.

Unlike conventional business management programmes, the domain of Business Analytics calls for specialized knowledge and skill-sets in myriad areas, including operations research, marketing, statistics, machine learning, data mining, computer sciences. A high gestation period is required for an ordinary business graduate to become job-ready in the Analytics field. The shortage of skilled MBAs who can deliver first-hour productivity in the Analytics domain is a major growth constraint for a sector that is witnessing huge demand.

The WNS-NU MBA in Business Analytics is a first-of-its-kind, work-integrated MBA programme in Business Analytics created by WNS, in partnership with NIIT University (NU). It is a path-breaking, industry-academia initiative wherein an innovative curriculum is supported by real-life problem solving, simulations in the WNS Lab SM and interactions with subject matter experts throughout the two-year programme.

While it's important to us that our applicants have diverse interests and experiences, they all share the following common characteristics:

Habit of Leadership

Leadership may be expressed in many forms, from college extra-curricular activities to academic or workplace achievements, from personal accomplishments to community commitments. We appreciate leadership on any scale, from organizing a college festival to directing a community event, from running an independent business to spearheading initiatives at work. In essence, we are looking for evidence of your potential.

Analytical Aptitude and Appetite

WNS and NU, are innovative, fast-paced, and highly-analytical environments. We look for individuals who have a point-of-view and enjoy lively discussion and debate. Our admissions committee will review your prior academic performance, the nature of your work experience, and the results of the Management Aptitude Test, Analytics Aptitude Test, Psychometric Profiling for Learnability, Group Discussion and Personal Interview. There is no particular previous programme of study required to apply; you must, however, demonstrate the ability to master analytical and quantitative concepts.

Engaged Community Citizenship

Getting the best out of our programme experience - including academics, NU campus life, WNS corporate environment, and student-organized events - requires the active collaboration of the entire student and faculty community. Therefore, we look for students who exhibit the highest ethical standards, have respect for others, and can make positive contributions to the programme. The right candidates must be eager to share their experiences, support their colleagues, and teach as well as learn from their peers.

We want applicants who have these traits. In each class, we create a dynamic environment that mirrors the breadth and depth of our nation and the global economy. Our promise to our faculty and to every student here is to create a class of 35 outstanding students who come from as many different backgrounds and perspectives as possible.

This programme will help you understand the challenging domain of analytics and big data as well as apply the concepts to real-world problems. Learn more about the programme

Our Programme

The WNS-NU MBA (Business Analytics) is a two-year industry-linked programme divided into eight terms of approximately 12 weeks each. The programme focuses on inculcating conceptual and analytical competencies among students who work in small groups (typical batch size is only 35) in an experiential, application-oriented, and learner-friendly environment. The principle behind such a design is that world-class professionals in analytics and data science cannot be mass-produced, but will have to be nurtured and developed with personalized care and attention. The programme is benchmarked against the best in the world and uses the most relevant pedagogy, which is not the usual delivery-consumption mode, but a rich interaction of activated minds that can test established theories and derive fresh, creative solutions to problems in real time.

Foundation Module:

The programme will begin with a Foundation Module aimed at equipping students with the necessary fundamental knowledge and skills required for the subsequent terms of the programme, and familiarizing them with the context and environment of Business Analytics.

The learners will spend the first four terms on NU campus at Neemrana, followed by four terms off-campus (for internships at WNS for courses integrated with their work). Internships and projects are planned in consultation with the partner organization.

The intense first year of the programme consists of four on-campus terms with each term having around seven courses of three credits each. The programmes that will be taught include Core Management, Communication & Professional Skills, Business Analytics, Data Science and Business Application.

Year two of the programme will have four supervised internships, one in each of the four terms. Internships will provide practical experience to the students in the field of Business Analytics to develop knowledge and skills by application of theory to actual problems in a non-classroom setting. Each internship term will have specified deliverables in the form of organizational work, special projects, assignments and presentations which have to be delivered within a specialized timeframe. Internship is actual work experience which will allow students to achieve personal goals aligned with the goals of the organization where internship is done.
